Brett T. Weinzapfel, M.D.
Dr. Weinzapfel was born
and raised in Evansville, Indiana. He completed his undergraduate and
masters studies in engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
He is an honors graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine,
where he earned both his MD and PhD in 2001. Following medical school
he completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Case Western Reserve
School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Weinzapfel received
additional specialized training in spinal surgery as a fellow with Dr.
Henry Bohlman, known to many as the “father” of anterior cervical spine
surgery. |

Dr. Weinzapfel has
extensive experience in total joint replacement and fracture care as
well as expertise in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of disorders
of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. He has particular interest
in degenerative and traumatic conditions of the cervical and lumbar
spine, including disc disease and spinal stenosis. He is well-versed in
the latest surgical techniques including minimally invasive spinal
surgery and deformity surgery. He is board eligible and a candidate
member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He joined
Tri-State Orthopaedic Surgeons in July 2007.
When
not taking care of patients, Dr. Weinzapfel enjoys spending time with
his family. His interests include travel, backpacking, home improvement
tasks, and automobile racing.
